Insulin Pump Program

Helwig Health and Diabetes Center offers the largest and most comprehensive insulin pump program in the region

Helwig Health and Diabetes Center is proud to offer the largest and most comprehensive insulin pump program in the region. Patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes can:

  • Attend information sessions to discuss pump therapy to help in deciding whether pump therapy may be right for them, and see equipment options that can help in choosing a pump.
  • Learn the skills needed for successful intensive insulin therapy, such as carbohydrate counting and insulin adjustment.
  • Receive hands-on training on the Animas, Deltec, and MiniMed pumps.
  • Get help and support from diabetes specialist nurse practitioners in managing blood sugars and adjusting therapy.

Our Classes

Our program is committed to the idea that patients learn best in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. Switching to pump therapy is a big step for most people with diabetes, and we strive to give patients the skills and confidence they need to be successful. Small classes allow for individual attention, and we provide extensive support throughout the transition from injections to the pump.

To Enroll

Please ask your physician for a referral. After receiving your doctor's referral, we will contact you to schedule your first session. We offer convenient day, evening and weekend classes.

The Pumper's Support Group is open to pump users and their families, as well as other people with diabetes who would like to learn more about insulin pump therapy. Meetings are hosted by HDC staffers and feature the latest news on pumps and glucose sensing technology. Free.

Call 610-402-CARE for more information.
